Types of anaconda

Are known four types of anaconda :

  • Anaconda green or common (Sucuri-green)
  • Yellow Anaconda (Sucuri-yellow)
  • Sucuri-spotted
  • Sucuri-da-bolivia

A Green juice (Eunectes murinus)

Of the four is the most common . It can be found in several South American countries:

  • Guiana
  • Trinity Island
  • Venezuela
  • Colombia
  • Brazil
  • Ecuador
  • Peru
  • Bolivia
  • Northwest Paraguay

Its color is a dark green with round black spots all along its body, also on the flanks. The belly is lighter, cream-colored. It can be found both in a tree and in the water, it feels good in both places. However, always in calm water, no water fast. To hunt they use the strength of their body.

They curl up in their prey and use the pressure to stifle it . Then they disengage your jaw to eat the prey at once (they have inner teeth that will drag the prey to your throat). While digesting its prey, the anaconda is still and asleep. This is the time that hunters usually take to hunt them.

Their food is varied. Their prey are medium or small size animals. For example, capybara (a large rodent species) and pigs are animals that feed the anaconda. In exceptional cases, it is known that they have already fed on alligators and jaguars.

The Yellow-Sucuri (Eunectes notaeus)

If your dream is to see a snake of this type, you should travel to South America. Specifically, for these countries:

  • Bolivia
  • Paraguay
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Uruguay

The difference with Sucuri-green is that it is smaller . In fact, their measurements usually oscillate between 2.5 and 4 meters . In some cases it can reach over 40 kilos in weight. Its predominant color is a dark ocher yellow with black spots. Spends his life in puddles, rivers and streams.

Juice-da-bolivia (Eunectes beniensis)

Also known as Bolivian anaconda . Harder to find since you live in certain places in this country:

  • The department of Beni
  • Peace
  • Cochabamba
  • Santa Cruz
  • Pando

Its main difference with the other sucuris is its olive green color with black spots.

The Sucuri-mottled (Eunectes deschauenseei)

The anaconda Tabby the can also be visited in South America, specifically in our country, Brazil. One of the places where it is easiest to see them is on the Amazon River.

It is yellow in color, although its main characteristic is the black stripes, one behind the other , that run through it. On its sides it also shows many black spots.

How much can an anaconda measure

The anaconda-green is considered the largest snake in the world. However, the largest specimens are always females. These are substantially larger than the males.

On average, we are talking about snakes measuring between 4 and 8 meters , while their weight varies between 40 and 150 kilograms. Attention, some specimens with 180 kilograms were found.

However, it is important to make a distinction. Sucuri-verde is considered to be the world’s largest serpendi with regard to weight or size. On the other hand, the longest snake in the world is the reticulated python .
