The Persian Cat Breed – Suitable Health Care Advice

We all know there are lots of different cat breeds but for many people their preference will always be the Persian. It is true that Persian cats are very beautiful and they have gentle personalities and long hair. They are great companions for virtually anyone, and not very demanding. Having said this, I would always recommend noting down these cat health care tips, no matter what breed of cat you have.

Although white is the colour normally associated with Persian cats, they actually come in a variety of other colours as well. In fact, when its competition time Persian cats are often divided into seven different colour categories, which include solid, tabby, smoke, silver and gold, bicolour and Himalayan.

Persian cats should always be kept inside of the house, to protect their coat. If they were to end up going outside, their coat can be easily damaged. It is also important to brush your Persian daily to prevent hairballs and stop the fur becoming tangled. You’ll need to bathe your Persian cat on a regular basis as well, to help protect his coat. So that your cat gets used to bathing, wash it from an early age. Although some breeds can maintain their coats on their own, Persians can’t. This is because the Persian fur is long and dense, so regular brushing keeps it in pristine condition.

Naturally, you want your beautiful Persian cat to be as healthy as possible and these cat health care tips should help ensure that. You should always take him to the vet on an annual basis. Persian cats can live up to 20 years providing you look after them properly and keep their health in good order. However, one important thing to be aware of is a Persian cat’s eyes. A Persian cat’s eyes can be quite large and sometimes cause problems for the cat because it cant clean them properly. Many cat owners will already be aware of this fact and it just means you should keep your eye out for anything untoward in your pet’s eyes.
